Free Resource: 2023 Start-of-Year Financial Planning Checklist

The season of “new year, new you” is upon us. From January 1st to sometime around mid-February, people around the globe will set resolutions and attempt to reinvent themselves overnight. Most will fail.

As someone who strives to improve myself constantly, I’ve learned that self-improvement, like investing, is won over time. While there’s a large market for hacks, shortcuts, and cheat codes, there’s no replacement for consistency, discipline, and the aggregation of marginal gains.

So while I’m not a big fan of traditional new year’s resolutions, there are steps you can take to set yourself up for success in the coming year. In addition to reviewing the previous year, the start of the year is a great time to get ahead of personal finance issues and make adjustments as needed.

That’s why I’m sharing the 2023 version of the “What Issues Should I Consider at the Start of the Year” checklist. This checklist is designed to help you recognize opportunities for incremental changes that, over time, can significantly impact progress toward your goals.

If the checklist helps you identify topics you’d like help planning for, please schedule a time for us to discuss them further. I welcome the opportunity to have this conversation with you!
